There’s an old adage that if you want to know a woman’s real age, look at her hands. That may be less reliable now that the FDA announced its approval today of the first injectible filler for hands.
The injectible, Radiesse, was first cleared by the FDA in 2006 to fill smile lines. It won approval for use in the back of the hands based on a one-year trial of more than 100 patients in several sites around the country. At three months, 98 percent of patients in the study reported improved appearance.
Radiesse is ideal for the area because it’s long lasting and milky or opaque in color which makes it ideal for hiding veins when injected under the skin in a fanning motion.
